Oh I love this column so much! Sounds like a bittersweet time for you and your brother. My parents did not divorce though they should have (in that same time frame). I would have been in the same period and place, and my dad would have been exactly like yours. Thank you for sharing.

I went to grade school on East 90th Street between Madison and Fifth. My classmate and best friend lived at 525 East 86th Street. Every Friday we took the crosstown bus and got off right in front of The Mansion: and would go inside and have a burger. This was in the early 70s. I loved that place!

We may have! Where did you go to school? I went to The Day School from 1972-1976. It's now called Trevor Day School. I went to Dwight HS from 1976-1980.
