Wine Bar is Added at L’Appartment 4F: Meet L’Apéro by 4F
The beloved Brooklyn Heights bakery L’Appartment 4F from Gautier and Ashley Coiffard, a software engineer and school nurse who took up baking during the pandemic, has opened L’Apero by 4F, an intimate night time French Wine Bar.
The bakery will transform to a 25-seat bistro at dusk, with a handpicked selection of biodynamic French wines, homemade slowly-fermented sourdough bread, cheeses, and a few light bites. Reservations are live now.
The Best Pizza Pop Up is Coming to the North Fork
One of my favorite chefs, Justin Smillie, is bringing his exceptional wood-fired Smillie Pizza to Southold General in the North Fork beginning on September 28th, 2023, served with local wines from a self-pour station rotated every two weeks.
The menu at Smillie Pizza is his unique stamp of local ingredients and classics built over the years of traveling with his wood-fired oven: Cacio e Pepe with fresh mozzarella, caciocavallo, labneh, and black pepper; Jimmy Nardello Peppers with lioni stracciatella, mint, and pepitas; and the Green Zebra with those delicious green striped heirloom tomatoes, and labneh, kourellas feta, and garlic oil. Pies are priced between $22 and $27.
If you’re heading to or from the city, there’s also a takeaway option, but if you can sit for a bit, do. There’s a lovely outdoor set up near the burning oven, where you can relax and enjoy their unique self-pour wine experience in partnership with local vineyards that will rotate every two weeks.
In addition to Smillie’s pizza, Southold General offers local produce, coffee and gelato and has become a staple in the community since its opening in 2021.
The Pop-Up will be open Thursday through Sunday, starting at 3:30 PM and serving until 9:00 PM. No reservations required; first-come, first-serve.
