It’s the long July 4th weekend, err, week, and I’m sure many of you will be heading out of town to the North Fork, the Catskills, Montauk and the like. Well, not me. I’ll be here, hoping to get out to the Rockaways if the air quality is okay, or sitting somewhere in the neighborhood with my book (right now I am reading Days of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante), and a cold glass of wine!
On July 4th, I’m doing a 10K on Governor’s Island with NYCRuns (this is my annual tradition), followed by a day of relaxing and lounging with cocktails and wellness pools at Q NY Spa and then some oysters and dinner at Island Oyster where they’re doing grilled American classics, oysters, live music, and select Aperitivo spritzes all day from Noon till 7pm. Who’s coming with me?
The great thing about these long weekends for those of us who stick around in the city is that it can be easier to get into restaurants that are impossible to get a table at otherwise. So whatever’s on your list—Claud (my wait was two hours the other night), Dame, Libertine, Shukette, Via Carota, Masalawala, Superiority Burger? Give them a try. A “Notify” on Resy may go a long way, or just walk in. Good luck!
Today’s Weekend Buzz takes you through July 4th and has some fun stuff — a trick to eating at one of the best restaurants in NYC for $10, a slew of spots to watch the fireworks while drinking and eating, and a list of fantastic barbecue spots doing July 4th menus.
Happy Weekend!
