Friends,

Happy Thursday! I’m hoping to see some of you at the sneak peek I’m doing of Ramblin’ Chick, Ample Hills’ founders new crackling chicken smashburger concept. The dinner is July 22nd at No. 7, at 6:30pm. Read about it and get tickets here!

In the meantime, I’ve got a lot of fun events to share for this week and weekend — read on below!

Summer Camp at Porchlight

If you long for the days of sleepaway camp but without the mosquitos and short sheeting, Porchlight is debuting a new menu and slate of activities that scream friendship bracelets, s'mores, and sitting around the campfire.

In addition to camp-themed menu items like Fried Pickle Martinis, Campfire Old Fashioneds, Fried Green Tomato Sandwiches, and a Dirt and Worms Cups with cake crumbles and gummy worms, they’re also offering camp-themed activities for grown ups! There will be Tie Dye on Friday July 18th ($30 includes a tee shirt to dye and a drink), Live Music Mondays with cornhole, and Wet Hot American Summer Sunday Movie Nights with classics like "The Parent Trap" and "Troop Beverly Hills." The full summer camp menu and activity lineup HERE.

More Malai!

My favorite spot for ice cream is Malai on Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, the South Asian scoop shop that makes flavors like Coffee Cardamom, Mango & Cream, Masala Chai and Saffron Pistachio (and their ice cream sandwiches and soft serve are the bomb too). For those who don’t live in Brooklyn, your time has come; Malai is opening a summer pop-up in the West Village this week!

The seasonal shop will feature a limited but frequently rotating menu of fan-favorite scoop flavors; exclusive to the West Village pop-up is Malai’s newly launched Four Flavor Flight, where you can mix and match any four available flavors for their perfect ice cream flight.

Service kicks off Friday, July 11 at 9 Christopher St in the West Village, and the team will be scooping Sunday through Thursday 12-10pm and Friday and Saturday 12-11pm. With this heat, it’s a no brainer. GO!

The Book Bodega x Books Are Magic

Books are Magic is once again partnering with @brooklynbookbodega, a non profit working to increase the number of 100+ book homes for kids ages 0-18 in NYC, but they can’t do it without book donations, which is where you come in! This Sunday, July 13th from 12pm-2pm come to Books are Magic Smith Street location to donate your used books! Details in the graphic, above.

I’ve got more fun ways to spend your weekend after the paywall — a Roberta’s reunion, a Friday afternoon Vinyl Hour, kebabs for all, and more on The Weekend Buzz, for Strong Buzz premium subscribers! Why not sign up? THANK YOU!
