Sal is in at Ferdinando's!
The owner of Cafe Spaghetti is gifted the keys to the legendary Union Street restaurant.
This just in from chef and unofficial Carroll Gardens mayor Sal Lamboglia — the restaurateur signed the lease last week on Ferdinando’s Foccaceria, after being personally selected by owner Frank Buffa, who abruptly closed the 121-year-old Italian restaurant at 151 Union Street it in February.
“I look forward to honoring the legacy of Ferdinando’s Focacceria and expanding the restaurant group we are building here in Carroll Gardens,” said Lamboglia, owner of Cafe Spaghetti, Swoony’s and Sal Tang's, in a statement.
When I texted Sal this morning to see if he had any idea what he would put there, he said, no idea yet. I’m hoping for a Italian bakery and wine bar that’s open all day with a big selection of take-out pastas for Sunday night family dinners. Sal, how does that sound?
More details to follow in the coming weeks. YAY!
Oh WOW great scoop, Andrea! We are sooooo lucky to have Sal & Giovanna and their group here in Carroll Gardens! And we are also very lucky to have YOU!
I’ll be there if they continue to make the original Arancini recipe! Thanks for the update!
