Some good stuff to report for this week. First up, the Jupiter trio - Jess Shadbolt, Annie Shi and Clare de Boer - have launched a new food truck on the Plaza at Rockefeller Center. It’s totally cute, a black and white van-meets-airstream that looks like something you and your best college friends might use to meander around Europe over one long hot summer. Inside you’ll find fresh porchetta sandwiches being assembled on house-made ciabatta swiped with salsa verde or apple sauce.
Jupiter, as you probably know, is the all-day pasta and wine bar in Rock Center from the acclaimed team behind King. It’s on Rink Level, located just downstairs from the new truck. They offer regional Italian classics with a spirit of casual excellence and joyful simplicity for leisurely lunches, pre-theater dinners and prosecco at the bar, so if you’re hungry for something more than a sandwich, head down there.
Jupiter’s Porchetta Truck is now open Tue-Sat, 12pm-6pm, just in time for the spring weather.

On Wednesday April 17th head to Brisket King NYC 2024! Dinosaur Bar-B-Que chef Garth Caruso joins a lineup of over 20 chefs and restaurants including Christine Espinal Rosa of Blue Smoke, Robert Austin Cho of Kimchi Smoke, Dhanapol Marprasert and Jina Tisopa of KAM RAI THAI, Jeff Schmidt and Mark Fuller of Hindsight BBQ, and many others. Celebrate flavors from traditional Southern BBQ, Thailand to Japan, Mexico to Korea, and beyond.
Now in its 12th year, this one-of-a-kind walk-around tasting event celebrates Thai, Dominican, Mexican, Tex-Korean, West Indian Jerk, and more global flavors alongside beer and whiskey from artisans like Bubba's Whiskey by Michter's, Brooklyn’s Fort Hamilton Distillery, New Riff Distilling, NY Distilling, Romilly Hard Cider, and craft beer by Ramstein Beer, plus desserts from MumsKitchens NYC.
The feast is produced by the one and only Jimmy Carbone, founder of Food Karma Projects and will be held at Pig Beach BBQ in Queens. The brisket makers will be judged by an all-star team including yours truly! So I hope to see you there.
