On Monday Sept 29th, I am hosting the next Strong Buzz Salon, a one-night-only OYSTER 101 Workshop (and oyster-eating party) with two of the world’s most revered oyster educators – Julie Qiu, author of In a Half Shell and co-founder of the Oyster Master Guild, an organization that certifies and educates shuckers and oyster lovers to become Oyster Sommeliers, and Lars Viola, Director of Oysters at the gorgeous new indoor-outdoor oyster and seafood playground, The Yacht Club by Crew
We will be taking in an al fresco evening of cocktails, wine, and oysters with Julie and Lars for OYSTERS 101, a one-hour introduction to the world of oysters. This session covers all the essentials—oyster anatomy, production, and sustainability—alongside practical skills in identifying quality and tasting like a pro. Blending Oyster 101 with global production insights and guided sensory training, the session gives you the framework to appreciate freshness, flavor, and texture with confidence wherever you go.
Oysters and snacks from The Yacht Club by Crew are also included in your ticket ($50 a person). There’s a cash bar with Strong Buzz drink specials and a special discount for all of us who stay for dinner.
