Nancy Silverton and Hillary Sterling Eat for Good
A dinner series with America's best chefs benefiting Food Bank for New York City
Happy MLK Day my friends! In the spirit of Dr. King, I wanted to share a post that focuses on paying it forward and giving back. Whether you are volunteering in your neighborhood, or putting on his speech just to listen to his grace and wisdom, it’s one of those days to think about how we can improve the world around us in some way. One easy way is to support Food Bank for New York.
So many New Yorkers (and migrants) are food insecure, looking to soup kitchens, nonprofits, and other CBOs for a daily hot meal; organizations that actually get all their meals from Food Bank. Indeed, in 2023 alone, Food Bank distributed more than 96 million meals across the five boroughs and nearly 21 million pounds of fresh produce to New Yorkers in need.
Now Food Bank for New York City is hosting Eat For Good, a fabulous dinner series as a way to bring top culinary talent together, raise awareness for the staggering number of people in the city that are food insecure, and fundraise for this organization that is on the forefront of helping that cause.
The first Eat For Good dinner is happening on January 22nd at Ci Siamo, with Nancy Silverton and Hillary Sterling, two of the country's most beloved and talented female chefs cooking an Italian feast. Tickets ($500 each) are available now on Resy. If this dinner is not really in your price point, no worries. You can always volunteer or donate at a level that makes sense for you.
Eat For Good will continue throughout the year with other one-of-a-kind collaborations including a 20th Anniversary Momofuku Dinner with Majordōmo and Momofuku Noodle Bar, and a Best New Restaurant duo dinner from Este and Ensenada. More details below!
March 2024 - Majordōmo x Momofuku Noodle Bar- For the first time ever, Majordōmo, Dave Chang’s acclaimed Momofuku restaurant in Los Angeles, is collaborating with the Momofuku Noodle Bar, the group’s original New York City restaurant in the East Village. The dinner will be part of Momofuku's 20th anniversary celebrations and tie together Majordomo's eclectic, seasonally-driven menu that pulls inspiration from around the world ranging from Korea to Italy, with Momofuku's Noodle Bar’s cult-favorite menu of noodles and buns and handrolls.
June 2024 - Este x Ensenada - The dinner will feature a collaboration between two of Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurants of 2023 — Este, the Austin-based restaurant from chef Fermín Núñez [also of acclaimed restaurants Suerte], and the Brooklyn-based Ensenada from chef Luis Herrera and owner Bryce David. For one night only, they will come together to prepare a feast that celebrates Mexican cuisine, fresh seafood and charcoal cooking, along with mezcal and more.
