Ice Cream for a Cause
Malai's Guest Chef Series Benefits World Central Kitchen, Ali Forney Center and more!
It's with great pleasure that I write these words: You must eat ice cream this summer at Malai, Pooja Bavishi's lovely little South Asian inspired Carroll Gardems shop for handcrafted ice cream steeped in the flavors of India. Really. Consider it a moral obligation. That's because of the Guest Chef Series, which is returning for its second year. This summer they’re welcoming Nasim Lahbichi, Jessie Sheehan, Fany Gerson, Zoe Adjonyoh and Dorie Greenspan to Malai on select weeks in June and July. They'll each be making a special dessert featuring Malai ice cream. Several are vegan (!), and Jessie, Fany, Zoe and Dorie will be signing copies of their books. Best of all, a portion of proceeds from each event will go to a charity of the chef's choice. Full deets are below, and here. June 9 & 10: Nasim Lahbichi Dessert: Sfenj with Saffron Soft Serve (vegan!)
