Extra Extra! Salt’s Cure Open NOW for Breakfast in Carroll Gardens!
This West Coast fave is serving oat griddle cakes as I write this! GO!
Salt’s Cure breakfast has come to Carroll Gardens! This LA-transplant, a fixture in their must-eat-breakfast scene for over a decade, is beloved for its house-cured meats (they don’t do bacon, they serve molasses-cured pork shoulder, aka Picnic Ham), and cult-status oatmeal griddle cakes (three per sensational stack).
Chef-owner Chris Phelps has already come East with a branch in the West Village and just opened his corner Carroll Gardens spot this week. Today, when I walked by with my son Sam to take him to school the lights were on and the sandwich board was outside!
They’ll make the griddle cakes gluten-free if you like but interestingly, there’s no syrup allowed. According to their website, “the batter itself has the perfect amount of sweetness you seek, and when topped with our Sea Salt Butter and a padding of powdered sugar, you are good to go.” But you can have them with blueberries and flax seed crumble, with bananas and walnuts, with chocolate chips, or have the OG with cinnamon molasses butter.
Sides include eggs; house-ground pork, chicken, or garbanzo sausage; hash browns, avocado with chili salt; and yogurt with pepita granola and strawberry preserves.
I love a good breakfast spot and can’t wait to bring the family in. Hope to see you there!
Salt’s Cure Carroll Gardens is located at 368 Court Street, at the corner of President Street and is open Wednesday - Sunday 8am - 2pm. Follow them on Instagram here.
