Escape the demise of democracy with frozen cocktails, ice cream collabs and more
Happy July 4th?
Happy 4th my friends,
With the way things are going in the “real” world at the moment, I’m excited to divorce myself from reality for the long weekend. I’m heading to my kids’ camp for visiting day this weekend (Buck’s Rock rocks!), and tonight I am hanging with my mom on the gorgeous wraparound roofdeck at her fabulous new assisted living spot in Brooklyn Heights for a Fourth of July bash. I am pretty excited about this party, of course because I will be with my mom who is doing better, plus there will be cocktails and live music. But also, hey, I’m gonna bring the average age by about 35 years. It feels good to feel young somewhere, plus Mom has made some very cool friends (I am looking at you Leo!)
Speaking of mom, I’m emerging slowly from the dark fog of the past month and her in the hospital and in a place called a “rehab” center (more on this when I can sit down and really pay attention to those feelings), and have a few fun things happening in the city to share below for the Weekend Buzz.
If you’re off in the North Fork, the Hamptons, the Catskills, the Berkshires, or the Rockaways, have a great time: microdose, grill, drink, run, sleep, read, rest your weary selves, you do you. Things are batshit crazy at the moment. Take a mental break.
See you next week.
Do you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain?
I love a frozen margarita just as much as the next person, but I’m particularly interested in this new frozen cocktail at Alta Calidad, chef Akhtar Nawab’s modern Mexican cantina in Prospect Heights.
