Arvine
A fabulous new West Village restaurant from alumni of Bouley and Gabriel Kreuther
Excited to share that Arvine, a modern neighborhood restaurant in the West Village from sommelier Adrien Falcon (Bouley, Keith McNally restaurants) and Chef Joe Anthony (Gabriel Kreuther, Daniel, Union Square Café), is now open. Arvine (19 Greenwich Ave) leans into under-the-radar wines, culinary-focused cocktails – take the White lady in Red for instance, a mix of aquavit, tahini, fresh tomato water, sumac – and modern, delicious, and kind of quirky American food sprinkled with ingredients of Korea, Italy, and everywhere in between.
Chef Joe’s menu sounds like this: a “Hippie’ Caesar with toasted seeds, avocado, and a zippy parmesan dressing, duck liver Hush Puppies with with pickled jalapenos and mandarin jam, caviar (to share, or not), a daily crudo and a grass-fed bison tartare with a calabrian chile “gochujang”, house einkorn focaccia, and larger plates like Grandma’s Bolo, a house-made squid ink pappardelle, picholine olives, whole wheat fried chicken with autumn greens, walnut-miso vinaigrette and an Iberian Duroc pork chop with sweet potato puree, seasonal fruit, and brown butter. Joe is also doing two larger format plates to share, a chile-garlic charred kingfish with tomato-anchovy braised rapini, house sesame pita and a Happy valley strip steak with smoked beet “BBQ” sauce and a carrot-farro gratin. On Adrien’s wine list expect accessible, hidden gems; rare bottles from Europe; and back vintages, alongside a modern cocktail program that reflects the kitchen’s spirit.
The 1200-square foot room, designed by Angelika Adams, feels cozy and cool, embracing the bohemian history of Greenwich Village with an industrial New York edge – exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, plush Cerulean blue banquettes, reclaimed wood, and the soft glow of a backlit onyx bar.
Joe and Adrien chose the name “Arvine” to represent the “art of hospitality.” “Service is the last seasoning,” says Chef Anthony. “Guests might forget a dish, but they’ll always remember how they felt.”
Arvine, located at 19 Greenwich Ave, is open Tuesday - Sunday, offering dinner service first, which will be followed by the addition of lunch and brunch. Reservations are available via Resy.
