Apparently in Florence, there are windows for wine – imagine that! You’re strolling through a piazza under a cloudless sky, considering a move to Italy when a glass of wine appears from an archway carved from a stucco facade. Delightful, no?
Now the team behind The Lambs Club is opening Buchette del Vino, a wine window architecturally inspired by the historic buchette – discreet windows carved into homes to serve wine during the 1600s, and brought to global fame thanks to Stanley Tucci's Searching for Italy. Now we’ve got one right here just in time for al fresco summer sips.
Buchette del Vino will not only serve beer, spritzes, prosecco, and glasses of red, white and rosé from Italy and the surrounding region, but a fun menu of tramezzini, panini, salads, house made pasta, gelato and more (for a sneak peek, check out this video). There will also be soft drinks, and espresso and cappuccino.
The piazza and wine window is right on Broadway between 43rd and 44th Streets, and marks a creative investment in Times Square, a nice addition to the pedestrian plazas and a lovely counterpoint to photos with Elmo and Spiderman. "Times Square is excited to welcome a taste of Florence with Buchette del Vino - a unique and elevated dining experience at the Crossroads of the World," said Tom Harris, President of the Times Square Alliance. "This wine window will be a draw for both tourists and New Yorkers, and we applaud the investment by Chef Jack Logue, Chris Miller, and The Lambs Club to bring something so special to the neighborhood."
Buchette del Vino opens Friday! It’s right near Maybe Happy Ending so maybe get a glass before you see it? I loved that show so much. Enjoy!
